A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

NOTE: Rhythm Doctor is a game still in development. This is an Early Access build that will be updated over time. You may encounter bugs and unfinished features in the game. You can get more details about Early Access here. Unlike the Steam version, this version does NOT have the Workshop feature. You can still download levels externally and add them to your library. This version is priced a little lower than the Steam version to reflect the lack of the feature.

Save lives with your spacebar!

Rhythm Doctor is a rhythm game in a world where defibrillating patients' hearts in sync with their heartbeats has healing properties. Slam your spacebar in perfect time on the 7th beat, and they might just come out okay. But beware - every patient has unique illnesses based on complex music theory: polyrhythms, hemiolas, irregular time signatures...if you don't know what they mean, don't worry. Rhythm Doctor is designed to make you learn music and rhythm theory without even realising it!

  • 20+ handmade levels, each with their own story.
  • Every level introduces a different concept of rhythm theory in an accessible way
  • A large cast of doctors and patients feature in an overarching, character-centric storyline
  • Play the story solo or grab a friend for drop-in drop-out local multiplayer throughout the whole campaign!
  • Robust level editor to make, share, and play community levels! Use your own music, place notes snapped to the beat, and use 50+ different visual effects and backgrounds.
  • Challenging "Night Shift" versions of each level for the brave

If you're one of the few hundred people who have donated in the past to the online version of Rhythm Doctor, you can just donate the remaining amount on that same page, and send an email to kyle@7thbe.at, and we'll be happy to send you a key :) If you had donated more than the price of this in the past, you should have received a key already. Thank you for being our early supporters on this journey~

My son got this game for his birthday and loves it. I was listening to him play it, and I think it could be made accessible for blind players with only a few adjustments. Probably one of the easiest things, that would help right away, is add an option to send everything that gets printed to the screen to the clipboard. Both Windows, with an NVDA addon, and Linux, with one of my projects, can read text sent to the clipboard automatically.

The more involved route would be to add text to speech into the game, for that, sapi5 could be used for Windows and speech-dispatcher could be used for Linux. There are probably a few other minor things that could be done, but being able to know which option is selected and hear what you are supposed to do would go a long way toward making this playable for blind gamers.

It would be really cool to be able to play this with him. If you are interested in adding accessibility, I would be more than happy to test and provide feedback.

Instead of lowering the price of the game, is there any chance we could just get a Steam key with our purchase so we can access the version that updates itself?

(I'm assuming this already occurred to the devs, but it seemed worth a suggestion. I much prefer buying on Itch to support devs and the site if I can, but it's nice when it's not the less convenient option as well as the less affordable one.)

I can't believe how good this game is. The Cafe Intermission was so magical.

(1 edit)

i run it on mac and it opens and i see the window but the window is just black and i tried waiting for an hour

Edit: I went into terminal and gave it access to desktop then it worked!

It was because it couldn't access it's own files.

the art is AMAZING, just one thing, can you make it available for lunix?

Seems like you can play it with Steam on Linux

(+2)

it's available now

(+1)

Hi, any hope for game controllers support (for each of the 2 players)? Especially on MacOS, as Big Sur 11.3 introduced recent console controllers support :)

(1 edit) (+1)

I knew this had ton of potential! This update is INSANE. The soundtrack, visuals and messing with the rhythms/windows was awesome. Artist's block level was so cute. This game is awesome (previous one had kanye west LOL!)

(1 edit) (+1)

Hello, I'm the person who bought the preorder last year. I bought it without using an icth.io account, did I get an email for write my name in the ending credit to confirm my credit name in this case? The mail did not come to my Google account.

I'm afraid I might misunderstand, but I got a steam key for purchasing games.

(+1)

Hi, the credits offer was only if you bought it before Dec 14th 2019. That was when we closed the preorders (made it password-protected) and removed the credits bonus from the feature list. There were just too many credits to fit by that point. Appreciate you preordering the game anyway, thank you so much.

(+3)

I've been keeping up with Rhythm Doctor since 2018 and it is amazing to see how the game got that far. Many new levels and changes that caught me offguard haha.

Thank you guys for this game! It's amazing.

(+4)

Thank you for buying and glad you liked it after all these years, means a lot!

(+1)

I'm so glad this has finally released!

Hope the launch went well, I've been looking forward to this for years.

(+1)

thank you so much!! hope you enjoyed the game!

(+1)

Does the person who preordered the game appear on the ending credit?

(+1)

Yes, if you filled out the form that was sent to your email in January 2020.

(+1)

i have a couple of questions

1. how do i get the steam key when it releases

2. i heard something about the people who bought the pre-order getting a special thanks?, if so, how do i send my name?

(+1)

I believe that you get all of these in your email.

(+2)

Hey Razkanaz, sorry for the late reply:

1. it'll be emailed to you!

2. that was only for people who preordered last year unfortunately, before we took down this page publicly and removed the 'special thanks' perk from the list here. The people who preordered when the perk was still advertised should have received the email already last year confirming their credit name. We might decide to still include it as a thanks.txt somewhere in the game files for fun, but we will do an announcement here if we do

(1 edit)

just to clarify, will it be emailed to the email from my itch.io account, or the paypal one? (i used my dads paypal account) (and yes my dad did allow it)

the email on your itch.io account! you'll also be able to redeem it logging into itch.io directly even if you didn't check your email, since it'll be automatically added to your account.

(+1)

My eyes are shining with this art, can't wait for the full game

(+3)

It was really fun!

Congratulations! Those 4 samurai are grateful for your service =)

(1 edit)

I love this! Take my money

Nice!

Epic game

(+3)(-1)

And you make epic levels!

Much fun than I thought..

In short, "Nice"

When will this game be officially released?

IT IS FUN!

This year is what we aim for! And thank you!

please help! Level 2 and 3 visuals wont show up!

Hey Marcizz, sorry for the late reply, we will investigate that now! Can you send your output log to giacomo@7thbe.at so he can see what the error that causes the blank screen? It might be a driver problem or something else. Thanks!

It’s located in C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\LocalLow\7th Beat Games\[Program or game name]\ as “output_log.txt”. (note that you’ll have to enable “show hidden items” to see the AppData folder.)

Ok! I sent the output log and a video of it happening. Hope it helps fixing it.

Hey. I was told to use the Beta. It didn't work.

hey Marcizz, thanks for testing, got it, we will try a few more things and let you know via email soon

GG! Fizzd thank you for creating an amazing game for us! I can't wait for the full game release. <3

(1 edit)

Thank you for playing Matheus, and nice job completing all the preorder levels!

(+1)

Looking forward to the release date in 2020! Anywho I have already donated, but can I donate more? :P Also named my strange rocket launcher in tf2 to your song of "Oriental Insomniac" absolutely love it!

(+1)

Thank you Nick, nice to hear from you again! Haha please don't donate more it's OK, it would make us happier if you treated yourself to something nice instead :P Thanks for your patience!

when the game will be out ?

Hi, the game will be out in 2020. Everyone who has preordered will be getting a bonus reward due to the delay. We'll send an email this week regarding the choice of rewards. Thank you!

Is This Coming To Consoles? Like Switch? Will it Come Out Near Christmas? jus wondrin idk.

(+2)

It's a very fun game! I hope it's released soon!

(+2)

Wow congratulations! Thanks for playing till 100%!

(+1)

Definitely worth the buy! I'm in the discord and now I'm constantly hooked on making levels and playing them too! Waiting for that Rhythm Doctor is out announcement!

(+1)

Thank you and really glad you enjoyed the game and level editor!

(+1)

Are the secret levels only in the preorder cause i wanna play it but i dont have the money to preorder

(+1)

You'll be able to play them regardless! Preorder levels will 99% be in the final game, but if any one of them is cut we'd be releasing them as free levels most probably anyway.

(+1)

Preordered on a whim, extremely glad I did. Every level is so SATISFYING to get right -- somehow I got the final level on my first try, and had to go back for the 3rd one which took nearly a half-dozen tries??

Good luck with your development, I can't wait to see where this goes!

(+2)

Thank you so much for the kind words, glad you liked it! Hope you will like the full game too!
